Govt Will Give Full Support To Accident Victims: Energy Adviser

Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Fawzul Kabir Khan said that there is no compensation for human deaths. But the present interim government will extend all possible support to the families and dependents of those killed and injured in various accidents.

He said this while visiting a DPDC worker who was electrocuted while working on power transmission lines under treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital on Friday.

The energy adviser said it was not an accident, it was complete negligence and irresponsibility. DPDC, the company and the contractor cannot escape responsibility for this accident. One person died and two people were seriously injured due to their negligence. Why was the line launched while working on the line? Strict action will be taken against everyone responsible in this regard.

He also said that the present government will provide full support to the families of the dead and injured and their dependents. The government will bear all the medical expenses of the injured.

At this time Fawzul Kabir Khan directed to pay Tk 5 lakh to the family of the dead, Tk 2 lakh to the seriously injured and Tk 1 lakh to the other. Besides, he directed the hospital authorities to make all efforts for the proper treatment of the injured. On behalf of DPDC, he directed the appointment of full-time staff in the hospital.

Later, the Adviser on Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources expressed his condolences to the families of the dead and injured and assured them of full cooperation.

Last Monday, an electrician was killed and two others were injured after being electrocuted while working on a transmission line in the Maniknagar area of ​​the capital. The deceased Md. Nabir Hossain is the foreman of the power line. The injured are Masum Mia and Rabiul Islam. They are undergoing treatment at the burn unit of DMC.
