Severe train delays cause passenger distress at Kamalapur Station || File Photo
Today, Saturday, passengers are facing severe hardships at Kamalapur Railway Station due to a catastrophic disruption in train schedules.
Although the derailed Panchagarh Express coach has been recovered, the situation remains unmanageable due to damage to the signaling system. As a result, each train is departing three to three and a half hours late.
Many passengers have been waiting at the Kamalapur Railway Station since last night, Friday. On average, trains are now leaving four to six hours later than scheduled, exacerbating their difficulties. While the station displays list the expected train departures, passengers are unable to find the trains they seek. Additionally, there is no accurate information available from the railway authorities.
Passengers faced extreme distress throughout the day yesterday due to the schedule disruption. They have expressed their frustration over the lack of communication from the authorities regarding potential train timings, which has added to their woes. However, railway officials have promised a quick resolution to the issue and are hopeful that the disruption will end today.
Authorities explain that after the accident involving the Panchagarh Express train on Thursday night, two points were damaged, affecting the automatic signaling system. As a result, signals are being operated manually, leading to the schedule disruptions. They are making every effort to restore normalcy.
Meanwhile, passengers returning to Dhaka after a long time are also expressing their anger, blaming the authorities for the prolonged situation.
