The interim government has decided to waive tuition fees for the students who sustained injuries during the recent mass upsurge from the secondary level to university.
The Ministry of Education issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday in line with the directive of the president.
The government has waived tuition fees for the students of all government and nongovernment high schools, colleges, madrasa and technical educational institutions, including universities, who sustained injuries during the July-August mass upsurge, according to the notification.
However, the injured students have been asked to submit prayers to their respective educational institutions for their treatment support, it added.
At the same time, the relevant authorities in the educational institutions will take immediate action to waive tuition fees upon verifying the authenticity of the appeal.
Authorities of the respective educational institutions will take measures to implement the government decision immediately, said the government note.
According to the primary data collected by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's sub-committee on health affairs, more than 31,000 students were injured in the July-August uprising.
