The High Court has scrapped the sedition case filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for her derogatory remarks about the number of martyrs during the Liberation War.
The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain passed the order today (October 30).
“The Home Ministry’s permission is required to file a sedition case against someone. The ministry did not give permission to file the case,” the court said.
Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Barrister Kayser Kamal represented Khaleda in the court.
The sedition case was filed with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court (CMM) court in December 2015.
