The army has arrested five more people in connection with creating chaos and vandalizing and setting fire to army-police vehicles in Kachukshet and Mirpur-14 areas of the capital.

Alamgir, Reshma Khatun, Mahfuz Mia, Aminul Islam and Kazi Russell are arrested.

The army will continue its campaign against those who deliberately set fire to army vehicles, create panic among the public, and destroy government property.

This information was given in a Saturday night Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release.

According to ISPR, on October 31 miscreants vandalized and set fire to army and police vehicles in Kachukhet and Mirpur-14 areas of the capital and created chaos. After the incident, the army launched a joint operation in the wake of the attack on the law and order forces and the destruction of government property. On Saturday, five criminals were arrested from Bhashantek and Kafrul areas through the operation of the army. Later, they were handed over to Bhashantek and Kafrul police station for interrogation and completion of legal proceedings.

Earlier, on November 1, three people were arrested by the army during a raid in the Bhashantek area. They are Rifat, Hridoy and Yasin.

The number of arrests stood at eight.
