Former DNCC Mayor Atiqul Placed On Five-Day Remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed Atiqul Islam, former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC),  on a 5-day remand in connection with a murder case filed at the capital’s Uttara Purba police station, local media reported.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury passed the remand order after DB police inspector Md Mahmudur Rahman, the investigating officer, produced Atiqul before the court, seeking a ten-day remand.

Atiqul was arrested on October 16 from the Mohakhali DOHS area in Dhaka.
