The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued a child abducted during a robbery at a house in Azimpur, Dhaka. A woman has been detained in connection with the incident. This information was shared in a press release by the force early this morning, Saturday, November 16.
RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director, Lt. Colonel Munim Ferdous, will brief journalists about the matter at 12:30 PM today at the RAB Media Center in Karwan Bazar.
According to the press release, the abducted child was rescued from Mohammadpur in the capital. One individual was arrested during the operation.
Earlier, on Friday morning, the robbery occurred at the residence of Farzana Akhter in the Azimpur Medical Staff Quarters. The robbers took cash amounting to 1.5 lakh BDT and four tolas of gold jewelry, in addition to abducting the child.
Police and family sources revealed that Farzana Akhter is a government employee who lives in the quarters with her husband and child.
Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jasim Uddin stated, “We received a complaint that during the robbery, the miscreants not only took valuables but also abducted the child. Such incidents are rare. Police are actively investigating to uncover the true story and apprehend those involved.”
