Dengue Claims 11 Lives, 1,079 Hospitalised

Dengue has claimed 11 more lives in the last 24-hour, when hospitals around the country admitted 1,079 new patients.

“In the last 24 hours, 587dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city,” the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a handout on Sunday (November 24).

This year, a total of 86,791 patients were hospitalised, while 459 deaths from dengue disease were reported during the period, the statement added.

Last year, the country recorded a massive number of fatalities, with 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 3,21,179 cases.
