A lawyer petitioned the High Court (HC) seeking a ban on ISKCON and a direction to impose a “State of Emergency in Chattogram and Rangpur” to avoid any untoward situation.
Lawyer Moniruzzaman sought an order from the HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury on Wednesday (November 27) citing media reports.
As the matter is sensitive, the court summoned the state’s highest law officer, the Attorney General (AG).
“Someone is trying to destabilize the country from any angle. The government is dealing with the alarming situation by building national unity. The government has started the process of discussion with political parties on recent issues,” said AG Md. Asaduzzaman.
“We are concerned,” the High Court (HC) said at this time.
No one should allow the situation of law and order to deteriorate. The HC has asked ISKCON and the government to report their action on the recent issue by tomorrow, it added.
