Liberation War Affairs Adviser Farooq-e-Azam today said that the age limit for valiant Freedom Fighters (FFs) has been fixed at 12 years and 6 months, where 2,111 people are younger than this. They are not FFs, they will be removed from the list.
He made these remarks at a press conference at the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Wednesday (December 11).
The adviser alleged that many were registered without being Freedom Fighters, but took advantage of all the benefits.
“If they leave voluntarily they can get amnesty. Otherwise, they will be charged. After the court determines, arrangements will be made for their punishment,” he said.
Stating that the total number of Freedom Fighters receiving allowances from the ministry is 196,454, he said “of which 464 are female warriors”. There are 5,895 war-wounded FFs, 5,333 martyred FFs and 368 titled FFs. In total, the total number of freedom fighters receiving allowances is 208,050.
In response to a query, Farooq-e-Azam said that no file of the Razakars’ list was found. The ministry also does not have this document.
