Rail communication to Khulna through the new railway line via the Padma Bridge will begin on December 24, significantly reducing travel time. Two new pairs of passenger trains will officially launch service on the Dhaka-Jashore-Khulna-Benapole route via Kashiani Junction.

Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Railways, will inaugurate the two new trains on December 24.

This information was shared in a press release signed by Rezaul Karim Siddiqui, the Public Relations officer of the Ministry of Railways, on Wednesday.

Railway authorities say that the construction of a new railway line via the Padma Bridge has reduced the distance between Dhaka and Khulna by 212 kilometers. This route will take three hours and forty-five minutes to travel from Dhaka to Khulna. It takes 9 and a half hours to travel via the Bangabandhu Jamuna Bridge.

The railways have informed that the trains are the Jahanabad Express on the Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route and the Ruposhi Bangla Express on the Benapole-Dhaka-Benapole route, both operating with a weekly break, according to the Ministry of Railways.

With the new route, travel time has drastically reduced. The journey from Dhaka to Khulna or Benapole via these new trains will now take only three hours and forty-five minutes, compared to the current nine hours and thirty minutes via Tangail-Ishwardi or seven hours and thirty-five minutes via Rajbari-Benapole.
