Robbery At Rupali Bank, 3 Surrendered With Weapons

Three members of a gang of robbers who held 12 people, including customers and employees, hostage at gunpoint inside Rupali Bank in Zinzira, Keraniganj in the capital have surrendered. They have been taken into the custody of law enforcement. No one was injured in the incident.

It is reported that 3 members of the robber gang surrendered on Thursday (December 19) evening.

Earlier, a group of robbers entered the bank around 2 pm. Upon receiving the information, members of the army, police, RAB and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the spot.

A WhatsApp message sent to the media from RAB-10 said that three robbers entered Rupali Bank in the Chunkutia Paka Pul area and demanded Tk 15 lakh. Those three surrendered to the joint forces along with firearms.

Earlier, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dakshin Keraniganj Police Station Mazharul Islam said that two to three robbers were inside the bank. Sources said that the robbers entered the bank and tried to rob it by taking everyone inside hostage.
