Female Schoolteacher Assaulted In Classroom

A female assistant school teacher has been physically assaulted in a classroom by her colleague's husband in Sirajganj’s Tarash.

Jannatul Ferdous, 35, is receiving treatment at Tarash Upazila Health Complex after Thursday’s (January 9) attack at Naluakandi Government Primary School.

“I was taking a class when my colleague Asma Khatun's husband Mosharraf Hossain turned up. We had a disagreement over a minor issue but he ended up assaulting,” she said.

Ferdous was hit in the head and bleeding. “Mosharraf fled as my colleagues rushed in hearing my scream,” she said.

Md Omar Faruk, the school’s headmaster, said they would inform the school management committee’s chairman and the education office.

Tarash Police Station’s in-charge Aslam Hossain said Ferdous has already filed a complaint. “We’re looking into it,” he said.
