3 Killed In Narsingdi Factional Clash || Photo : Collected
Three people were killed and at least 15 others injured in a factional clash between two groups of Awami League on Sunday morning over establishing supremacy at Bashgari union under Raipura upazila in Narsingdi.
Two of the deceased were identified as Alamgir Hossain Alam, 32, and Ali Ahmed, 24.
Raipura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Masud Rana said that there had been a long standing dispute between Bashgari Union Parishad’s incumbent chairman Jakir Hossain and former chairman Ashraful Islam over establishing supremacy in the area. Jakir and Ashraful are the activists of the union unit Awami League.
As a sequel that, the two groups swooped on each other with guns, firearms and leathal weapons at around 7:50AM, leaving three dead on the spot.
Being informed, a team of police rescued the injured and sent them to different hospitals in the district, said Raipura Police Station Officer In-Charge Adil Mahmud.
Additional police personnel were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation, he added.
