Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Justice Md. Abdur Rouf has passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un).
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Insaf Barakah Kidney Hospital in Moghbazar, Dhaka, at around 10 AM on Sunday (February 9). He was 91 years old at the time of his death.
According to the family's decision, Abdur Rouf will be laid to rest in his ancestral home in Mymensingh, as confirmed by his personal assistant, Md. Tawhid.
Justice Abdur Rouf served as Bangladesh's fifth Chief Election Commissioner from December 25, 1990, to April 18, 1995.
Additionally, he was the Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Coordination Committee and the President of the national children's organization, Phulkuri.
