The third-phase recommendations for the canceled recruitment of assistant teachers for government primary schools are still protesting at Shahbagh today.
Thursday morning, from 9 AM, the protesters began gathering in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh.
During the demonstration, they chanted slogans such as "Who made the recommendation? This government, this government!", "Who am I, who are you? Teacher, teacher!", and "First-phase candidates got jobs, why are we on the streets?"
Additionally, they displayed placards with messages like "Either give us our appointment or take our lives", and "Either recruitment or death."
They demand, the cancellation of their recruitment must be withdrawn and appointments must be confirmed. They have vowed to continue their movement until their demands are met.
On October 31, the final results of the third phase of recruitment for assistant teachers in government primary schools were published for Dhaka and Chattogram divisions (excluding the three hill districts), with 6,531 candidates qualifying.
However, 30 candidates who left out of the selection process filed a writ petition challenging the validity of the results based on quota implementation.
On February 6, the High Court canceled the recruitment of all 6,531 candidates, instructing that the appointments should be made based on merit.
Since then, the third-phase recommended candidates have been protesting, marking the eighth consecutive day of their demonstration.
Their demand remains firm: the High Court's verdict must be overturned, and their appointments must be reinstated.
