Non-MPO Teachers Continue Protest For 10th Consecutive Day At Press Club

Non-MPO teachers have continued their sit-in protest in front of the National Press Club for the 10th consecutive day, demanding the inclusion of their educational institutions in the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme.

Under the banner of the Non-MPO Educational Institution Unity Council, teachers have vowed to continue their movement until their demands are met.

As the protest drags on, several teachers have fallen ill due to continuous demonstrations. At least 10 teachers have reportedly become sick while participating in the sit-in.

Taslima Khatun, a school teacher from Chapainawabganj, who participated in the program, said, "Our school was established in 2004. Since its establishment, it has been conducting educational programs with a good reputation and is recognized as an institution. However, for some unknown reason, our institution has not been registered with MPO for a long time. As a result, we are in a lot of trouble with our families. Our sit-in program will continue until our demands are met."

Approximately 300 teachers are currently participating in the movement. The sit-in protest began on February 23 and has continued without interruption.

On Sunday, the protesting teachers attempted to march towards the residence of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at Jamuna, demanding government intervention. However, police stopped them near the High Court.

Following negotiations, the authorities allowed a five-member delegation of the teachers to visit Jamuna and discuss their demands with the Chief Adviser.

The protesting teachers remain firm in their stance, calling for urgent government action to address their long-standing issue.
