Advisory Council Set To Expand

The Advisory Council is set to expand with the swearing-in of another adviser this evening (March 4).

Professor Dr M Aminul Islam is being appointed as an adviser to the interim government, an official confirmed.

Currently, Dr Islam is serving as the chief adviser’s special assistant with the rank of state minister.

The council faced changes in the last few months.

Aviation, Tourism, and Land Adviser AF Hassan Ariff passed away on December 20 last year.

Meanwhile, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Adviser Nahid Islam resigned on February 25 to join a new political party.

An interim government led by Nobel laureate Dr Yunus took office on August 8 last year, three days after a student-led mass movement toppled Sheikh Hasina, ending her 15-year rule.

The administration has promised to organise a free, fair and acceptable election as soon as possible after necessary reforms.
