RMG Workers Block Road In Banani

The death of a female readymade garment worker in a road accident has prompted her colleagues to block the thoroughfares in Dhaka’s Banani, disrupting traffic on key routes.

Witnesses say the accident took place at the Chairman Bari U-turn area on Monday (March 10) morning. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Garment workers blocked both incoming and outgoing traffic from the area. They have also stopped vehicular movement on the elevated expressway.

Police say they are trying to bring the situation under control.

Traffic's Gulshan Division said that diversions have been put in place at Banani-Kakoli Crossing and Amtali in Mohakhali to ease traffic. Incoming and outgoing traffic has been rerouted through Gulshan-2, Gulshan-1, and Amtali.
