Only MBBS, BDS Graduates Can Use ‘Doctor’: HC

The High Court (HC) has ruled that only Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree holders can use the title 'Doctor' before their names.

The High Court bench of Justice Razik Al Jalil and Justice Sathika Hossain gave the ruling on Wednesday.

“Those who have used the title ‘Doctor’ without an MBBS or BDS degree until now will not face any action. However, starting March 13, anyone violating this rule will face legal consequences,” the HC said today (March 12).

In the ruling, the High Court said that no action will be taken against those who have used the title of Doctor till date without MBBS and BDS degrees.

However, the court ordered that action will be taken as per the law if the title of Doctor is used illegally from Thursday in violation of the law.
