Saudi Arabia Building City of the Future

The city will have an artificial moon, there will be a flying taxi system. Robots will clean the house. The whole city will be carbon free.

Saudi officials have described it as the most ambitious project in the world.

The Line, a luxury city in Saudi Arabia, is being built on the shores of the Red Sea. The size of the city will be 180 km under a project called 'Neom'.

More than 1 million people can live in this carbon-free city. The city will run on 100% environmentally friendly fuel.

In October 2012, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told Bloomberg that work on the first phase of the city of Niom was nearing completion. However, all the work of the city will be completed in 2025.

City of the future

The Saudi government is planning to develop an area of 26,500 square kilometers under the construction project 'Neome' on the shores of the Red Sea. The city of The Line is being built under that project.

The Wall Street Journal, a US newspaper, has the opportunity to view some of the confidential documents of the organizations that are working to implement the city's construction plan.

According to the newspaper, the name Neom came from a combination of Greek and Arabic names. The Greek word is new and the Arabic word is future.

The city is being built over an area of 10,230 square kilometers in northeastern Saudi Arabia. Behind which will cost 500 billion dollars or 50 thousand crore rupees.

The city of Neum is part of Prince Mohammed's "Vision 2030" to reduce Saudi dependence on oil and bring about change in Saudi society.

What is happening in this city

"The future has got a new address here," the Neom website said.

There will be a huge artificial moon in the sky at night throughout the area. The Line City will be illuminated by the light of that moon just like the real moon.

The Neom project will have the technology to create artificial clouds. These clouds will cause more rain in the desert.

There will be holographic teachers as a system of education, as seen in science fiction movies.

There will be an island like Jurassic Park, where robot dinosaurs can be found.

Saudi officials say people will travel there in flying taxis. Officials say that in the future, people will drive for pleasure, they will not have to drive for work. Robots will clean the house.

The Saudi prince wants the city to be like Silicon Valley in terms of technology, like Hollywood in terms of entertainment and like the French Riviera for leisure.

Many changes will also be made to the Red Sea beach. According to the plan, the beaches there will be covered with black sand.

Construction has already begun in an area of the city called Neom Bay. This is called the first phase project.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, Neom Bay will have white sand beaches, pleasant weather and a great investment climate. It will be a lot like a residential area.

In the meantime, the activities of Neom Airport have been completed and it has been recognized as an international airport.

The city's rules are also expected to be different from those in other parts of Saudi Arabia. The legal system here will be directly accountable to the King of Saudi Arabia.

Members of the Huait group will lose their homes

According to The Guardian, about 20,000 members of the Saudi Huait group live in the area where the Neom project is being built. They are being evacuated to build the city.

But where they will go, what their new address will be, is not yet clear.

What will create new opportunities for Bangladesh?

According to Reuters, Saudi Arabia is working hard to build the Neom project. According to the announcement of the Saudi authorities, the construction of The Line city will start in the first quarter of this year.

The organizations that send workers abroad in Bangladesh hope that a demand for Bangladeshi workers will be created at this time.

Abul Bashar, former president of Bayra, an organization of recruiting agencies in Bangladesh, told BBC Bangla that most of the workers who go to Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh go as construction workers or cleaners. But the mega project that the Saudi government is building needs a lot of technical staff.

"Some construction workers from Bangladesh are working there. But people from India, Sri Lanka and the Philippines are getting more opportunities for technical work. But we hope that once the city is completed, there will be some job opportunities for our workers. "
