The National Moon Sighting
Committee will sit in a meeting on Sunday (May 1) evening to see the moon of
Shawwal month. The date of Eid-ul-Fitr will be known after this meeting.
The meeting will be held in the
conference room of Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram after Maghrib prayers.
It will be chaired by the President of the National Moon Sighting Committee and
the Minister of State for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haq Khan.
The Islamic Foundation has
informed about this meeting of the Moon Sighting Committee.
According to the Islamic
Foundation, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on May 2 (Monday) if the moon of
Shawwal is seen in the sky of the country on Sunday. And if the moon is not
seen on Sunday, then 30 days of the month of Ramadan will be completed on
Monday. In that case Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on May 3 (Tuesday).
If the moon of Shawwal month is
seen anywhere in the country, call 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916 and
02-41050917 and fax to the concerned district administration 02-223383397 or
02-9555951 to the district administration officer or UNO, the Islamic
Foundation has requested.
Meanwhile, the holy Shawwal moon
was not seen in the sky of Saudi Arabia on Saturday. Therefore, the holy
Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates
and other countries in the Middle East.
