This year’s Hajj program will be inaugurated tomorrow Friday (May 19). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present at Ashkona Hajj Camp in the capital to inaugurate this program.

The Hajj Division of the Ministry of Religious Affairs informed on Thursday (May 18) that the Prime Minister will inaugurate this year’s Hajj program tomorrow. She will also exchange views with Hajj pilgrims at the opening ceremony tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Hajj program virtually last year. This year, she will attend the opening ceremony in person. However, the ministry did not mention the specific time of the inauguration ceremony.

It has also been informed that the first Hajj flight will go to Saudi Arabia on May 20 at 2:45 pm. The overall preparation of the Hajj camp and other activities related to Hajj have already been completed.

Holy Haj will be held on June 27 this year subject to moon sighting. According to the Hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia, 127,198 people from Bangladesh will be able to perform Hajj this time.

Among them, 15,000 people will get the chance to perform Hajj under government management and the remaining 112,198 people under private management. The Hajj registration has already been completed. However, due to the high cost of Hajj, the quota could not be fully filled.

Recently, the State Minister for Religious Affairs Md. Faridul Haque Khan said that the quota of 3,500 Hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh will be empty this year.
