Thunderstorms Likely To Hit 5 Regions: BMD

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers along with gusty or squally wind over five regions of the country.

“Thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or south-westerly gusty or squally wind with a speed of 45-60 kph are likely to occur over the regions of Jashore, Khulna, Noakhali, Cumilla, and Chattogram,” the BMD said in an inland riverport warning valid till 6pm on Tuesday (August 27).

The river ports in these areas have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number 1, the notification says.

Another Met Office forecast says that the daytime and night time temperatures may rise slightly over the country.

“Rainfall activity may decrease,” the BMD said in an outlook for the next five days, starting August 26.
