The government has set an inflation target of 6.5 percent in the next financial year 2024-25. Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali said this while placing the national budget at parliament for the next financial year on Thursday.
The same target was set in the budget of the current financial year. Later though the target was raised to 7.5 percent.
However, the inflation rate was more than 9 percent throughout the current financial year. Inflation was close to 10 percent in the outgoing May.
The Finance Minister presented the proposed National Budget for the fiscal year 2024-2025 in the Parliament under the chairmanship of the Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury and in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 3 pm on Thursday. The size of the budget has been fixed at 7,97,000 crore.
