Member of Parliament for Jhenaidah-2 Constituency. Md Nasser Shahrear Zahedee Mohul said, "At present, the amount of defaulted loans in the country is 1 lakh 82 thousand 295 crores. Which is very big for our country. And in in percentage terms it is around 11.10 percent. Of this amount 58 thousand crore rupees have been collected. As of September 2023, due to various cases, 2 lakh 12 thousand 157 crores of government has not been paid.
MP Mohul mentioned also that there are 2 lakh 82 thousand 96 pending cases in the courts across the country. It is not known how these cases will be resolved. We are not getting 25 percent of the loan given. It is a big liability for our economy.
Md Nasser Shahrear Zahedee Mohul today on Thursday (June 13) said these things in the budget discussion in Parliament.
He also criticized the reduction policy of the current subsidy in agriculture sector.He said that more than 500 of the 749 products considered for inflation are agricultural products. Therefore, to reduce inflation, agricultural production should be increased and farmers should be subsidized. In the case of agriculture subsidy, 32.7 percent has been reduced. He suggested increasing rather than reducing agricultural subsidies in agriculture-dependent countries. In the revised budget of 2023-24, the subsidy for agriculture was Tk 25 thousand 644 crores. Next year, the allocation for agriculture has dropped to Rs 17,000 crore.
MP Zahedee also mentioned about the social security program, OMS, food subsidy, VGF, mother and child development program taken by the prime minister with appraisal are indicating as very beneficial.
He criticised also regarding the reduction of 20 percent in food subsidy and the same ratio in service sector.
He said, VGF allocation increased by only 7 percent to Rs 563 crore. He suggested to allocate 1 thousand crore rupees over here. He thanked for increasing the allocation for mother child development and pension program.
Regarding the education system, he said that despite being one of the best educational institutions in the country, cadet colleges are always have been suffering due to budget crisis. He recommended for allocating the necessary amount of money to be arranged for the upgradation and proper management of the cadet college education system in the next financial year.
MP Zahedee thanked the Health Minister for giving positive consent regarding the recruitment of pharmacists in hospitals and said that the recruitment process of graduate pharmacists in hospitals has started. Six hundred pharmacists may be recruited in the first year. Therefore, he recommended to the Ministry of Finance to provide the necessary financial allocation for the recruitment of manpower for the development of health services in the country.
Also he emphasised for setting up specialized units to provide chemotherapy for cancer patients, dialysis for kidney patients and CCU for heart patients in Jhenaidah Medical College and 250 bed hospital. He also recommended the establishment of an agricultural university centered on agricultural farms in Jhenaidah.
