Gold Prices Hit Record High

Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus) has again increased the prices of all types of gold by Tk 1,166 per bhori. The new prices came into effect from yesterday.

The move marked the highest ever prices of gold in the country’s history.

The decision of price hike was made as the prices of the dollar against taka were on the upward trend in local bullion markets, said a statement of the association issued on Tuesday.

As per the new decision, each bhori of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk 61,527, 21-carat Tk59,194, and 18-carat will be sold at Tk 54,179 in the local market.

Also, the price of gold acquired in the traditional method is Tk 41,407.

However, the price of 21-carat silver has remained unchanged — Tk 933 per bhori.

The last time Bajus hiked the prices was on Jan 5. Prior to that, the prices were also hiked in July, August, November, and December last year.
