'The Incredibles' Wins Champions Trophy of Unilever BizMaestros 2020

After a challenging battle and surpassing 145 teams from 25 universities across Bangladesh, Team ‘The Incredibles’ has won the Champions Trophy of Unilever BizMaestros 2020.

The team consisting of Sadia Hasan, Marzina Akhter Prottasha and Sajid Asbat Khandaker from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, will now represent Bangladesh at the global platform of Unilever Future Leaders’ League (FLL) 2020 in London, where they will contend against the brightest talents of the world.

The Champions of BizMaestros 2020 will also be forwarded in the recruitment process of Unilever’s Management Trainee Programme, Unilever Future Leader’s Programme (UFLP). In addition, they will also be getting an opportunity to work on a short-term project at Unilever Consumer Care Ltd.

The First Runners Up title goes to Team Mudblood, consisting of Mayesha Raidah, Tamim Islam and Md. Nafis Khan from Bangladesh University of Professionals. Team Bus-Hawks consisting of Aahnaf Aakif, Adiba Haque Ahona and Syeda Saima Hossain from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka won the title of Second Runners Up. 

The gala was hosted virtually on the 12th of November 2020, where the 6 finalists were evaluated by a panel of esteemed industry experts. The panel included Asif Saleh, Executive Director of BRAC Bangladesh; Robert Simpson, FAO Representative in Bangladesh, KSM Minhaj, Managing Director of Unilever Consumer Care Limited; and Kedar Lele, Chairman and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh.2020 has been a year with waves of uncertainty reaching people all over the world, affecting the job market, impeding education and acting as a hindrance in the students’ learning opportunities. Unilever, staying true to its commitment of giving back to the community, this year, hosted the first ever virtual BizMaestros, ensuring safety of all involved, while helping the students experience the thrill of real business and grooming them for the future. 

Making this year’s competition more unique, BizMaestros 2020 came up with a weekly quiz competition-Learning Heist for engaging all the145 registered teams and ensuring their learning. During the gala, the top 3 scoring teams Team Bus-Hawks, from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka were crowned as the Learning Champions of BizMaestros 2020! 

The theme for this year, “Power the Future” enabled the participants work on business challenges to steer the business towards growth by leveraging futuristic opportunities. Registrations went live on 4th October 2020, where final year students had to form a group of 3 and come up with 3 big ideas for Unilever to improve health and wellbeing of Bangladesh. The teams then submitted their solutions in the form of videos. After thorough assessment, top 30 teams were forwarded to the semi-finals!

The theme for the semi-final round was “Channels of the Future” where the teams were challenged to come up with solutions to leverage emerging channels to grow the business and serve our shoppers better 

The top 6 teams forwarded to the Grand Finale were Isildur’s Bane from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, Northern Lights from Bangladesh University of Professionals, Sonic from BRAC University, Team Bus-Hawks from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, Team Mudblood from Bangladesh University of Professionals and The Incredibles from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka.

For the Grand Finale, the finalists were given the challenge to improve the health and nutrition with our nutrition portfolio. 

Throughout the rounds, several learning sessions were arranged for the teams to have a proper understanding of the challenges and various business concepts that would help them craft their solutions. Each finalist team was mentored by experienced senior managers of Unilever Bangladesh who guided them to hone their solutions. 

The BizMaestros gala ended on a congratulatory note for the winners who will be representing Bangladesh at the global platform of Unilever Future Leaders’ League and fight against the brightest minds of the world!
