Robi Sets Up Innovation Lab in ICMAB

The leading digital services provider, Robi, has set up a state-of-the-art Innovation Lab in The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB). The Innovation Lab was inaugurated today at ICMAB’s campus in Dhaka through a online event.

Honorable ICT State Minister, Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak,  MP inaugurated the lab as the chief guest. Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Chief Information Officer, Asif Naimur Rashid, Chief Human Resources Officer, Faisal Imtiaz Khan, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer, Shahed Alam, ICMAB president , Md. Jasim Uddin Akond FCMA, President of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), A K M Delwar Hossain FCMA,  Chairman, ICT Committee of ICMAB, Md. Faruk Shikder FCMA,  High officials from Robi and ICMAB were present on the online launching event.

The Innovation Lab has been set up with the purpose of introducing the ICMAB students to the latest digital technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as, data analytics, block chain, Internet of Things (IoT) etc. The Lab will also work as an incubator to bring up real-life business solutions to address the problems faced by the companies.

In order to make the best use of the lab facilities, ICMAB has decided to recognize the time spent by the students for learning, project or research work in connection to the usage of the lab facilities as credit hours. Students successfully completing the assigned tasks from this lab will be given professional certificates.

Speaking on the occasion, Honorable ICT State Minister, Dr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP MP said: “Within just a decade Bangladesh has transformed from a labour driven to technology driven economy. There is no alternative to research and innovation if a country wishes to develop its economy. I consider the setting up of ICMAB-Robi Innovation Lab as one such wonderful initiative. ICT Division will do its utmost to make sure this innovation lab can operate to its full potential.”

Commenting on the occasion, Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said, “We all know very well that the innovative digital technologies are opening up plethora of opportunities for the country thanks to the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. What we need now is a pool of human resources who are adequately skilled to make the most of the opportunity.
