Standard Bank Provided Relief Assistance to Covid-19 Stricken People

On the occasion of 22nd Founding Anniversary & stepping into 23rd years of establishment, Standard Bank Limited has provided relief assistance to the Covid 19 stricken poor people.

As a gesture of solidarity with the underprivileged segment of our society during this on-going corona crisis the Standard Bank authority avoided organizing the festival, instead celebrated this special day of the founding anniversary by participating in the service of humanity.

On 03 June 2021, on the occasion of the 22nd founding anniversary of the bank, a Doa- Mahfil was organized on the online platform. Mr. Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Chairman of the Board of Directors and former President of FBCCI, joined online as the chief guest at the Doa- Mahfil presided over by the Managing Director and CEO of the Bank, Khondoker Rashed Maqsood.

"We believe that not only business success but also being able to put a smile on people's faces is the biggest success", Mr. Akram said. In the first phase of relief distribution, the bank is providing relief assistance to 2300 crisis stricken families through its 23 branches. It is to be noted that since the outbreak of coronavirus, Standard Bank has been working in various ways to serve humanity.

Vice Chairman of the Bank Ashok Kumar Saha, Directors Messers Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, Ferozur Rahman, Md. Monzur Alam, S. A. M. Hossain, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Al-Haj Mohammed Shamsul Alam, Gulzar Ahmed, Md. Zahedul Hoque, Al-Haj Mohd. Yousuf Chowdhury, Ferdous Ali Khan, Kazi Khurram Ahmed, Md. Abul Hossain, Independent Director Najmul Huq Chaudhury, Additional Managing Director Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, Deputy Managing Director Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, acting Company Secretary Md. Ali Reza and about 2500 employees of the bank's head office and 138 branches across the country were present online at the inaugural function of the relief distribution program.

The prayers were conducted by the honorable member of the Shari`ah Supervisory Committee of the Bank, Dr. Md. Saifullah. At the event, Managing Director Rashed Maqsood pledged to establish Standard Bank as a leading Islamic bank by providing Shari`ah-based, modern and best customer service. "Standard Bank was, is and will be by the side of the distressed people of the country in any moment of disaster," he added. In its 23rd year, Standard Bank was transformed into a full-fledged Shari`ah-compliant bank from January 1, 2021.
