Evaly, a controversial e-commerce platform, ordered all of its workers to work from home until further notice on Saturday.
The decision
was made to "give consumers with the best level of service,"
according to a posting on Evaly's Facebook page.
The announcement stated, "All Evaly activities will continue as usual under the 'Home Office' system."
Meanwhile,
according to reports in the media, the e-commerce company has closed its
head office in Dhanmondi.
Evaly had previously shuttered their offices in June due to a spike in Covid-19 cases, however they reopened on August 22.
Another
notice was posted on their Facebook page on Friday, stating that due to the
absence of the CEO and chairman, Evaly's routine distribution activities will be
delayed.
"We are
unable to pay regular invoices to our sellers in the absence of our two primary
signatories — the honorable CEO and the chairman," the note stated.
From
Saturday, all T10 campaign orders placed on the company's website will be saved
as "requests."
Following an
embezzlement complaint filed against them, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)
arrested Evaly CEO Mohammad Rassel and his wife Evaly Chairman Shamima Nasrin
at their Mohammadpur residence after an hour-long journey.
Both were
granted a three-day remand.
Following a
central bank inspection report on the e-commerce firm, Evaly's controversial business plan has come to light.
Evaly has
accumulated a debt of Tk543 crore to its suppliers and customers since its
beginning in 2018.
