Although
coronavirus infections have increased in the country, the trade fair is not
being shut down. The National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 (NTAC)
has not yet issued any instructions in this regard. The trade fair will continue
till the new announcement comes.
This
information was given by the senior information officer of the Ministry of
Commerce Abdul Latif Bakshi on Tuesday (January 11) at noon.
He
said the number of stalls has been reduced this time in compliance with the
health rules. Visitors must wear masks and maintain physical distance. The
circular did not say whether the fair would be closed or not. If any decision
in this regard comes, the authority will close the fair. But now the fair will
continue according to the hygiene rules.
"We
have a monitoring team at the fairgrounds to monitor the hygiene of the
visitors," he said. The people of the Export Development Bureau have been
given the responsibility of supervision through office orders.
An
11-point ban was issued by the Cabinet on Monday evening (January 10) as
coronavirus infections continued to rise in the country. The government is
going to enforce the restrictions across the country from Thursday (January
13).
Earlier,
the 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair started on January 1 at the Bangabandhu
Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in the eastern part of the
capital. On that day, the Prime Minister inaugurated the trade fair through
video conference from her official residence Ganobhaban. At the same time, the
Prime Minister announced 'ICT Products and Services' as 'Product of the Year' of
the year 2022 to encourage exports in line with the export policy.
