Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said that the open market sales of rice at subsidized prices will resume in September through 2,013 dealers across the country. This program is being launched to control the rising rice market.
He said this while talking to reporters in his office at the secretariat on Sunday (August 14).
He said that rice will be sold in OMS at the rate of Tk 15 per kg. We are optimistic because Aman rice will rise in the future. We will not sit down to raise that aush paddy, until next August 31, the last time to collect our Boro. From September 1, the food-friendly program will be launched for 5 million families or 40 million people.
The OMS program will run through 2,013 dealers every day from September 1. The Food Minister also said that OMS will run in all places including districts, upazilas, and municipalities.
