The government has decided to purchase 1.10 crores liters of soybean oil and 8,000 metric tons of pulses at a cost of Tk 274,16,96,800 for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).
This approval was given in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Thursday afternoon. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over this virtual meeting. At the end of the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Syed Mahbub Khan presented the details of the approved proposals.
He said that 8 8,000 metric tons of pulses will be purchased through an international open tender system. These pulses will be purchased from India’s ETC Agro Processing Private Limited (local agent in Dhaka: Export Trading Bd Limited) for Tk 73,96,96,800.
Besides, the government has approved the purchase of 1.10 crores liters of soybean oil through the direct purchase method locally. This oil will be purchased from Shun Shing Edible Oil Ltd for Tk 200.20 crores.
Five proposals were presented to the committee for approval. Among them – one proposal from the Road Transport and Highways Division, one proposal from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, two proposals from the Ministry of Commerce, and one proposal from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
The total amount of money in five proposals is Tk 1,379,37,64,000.
