On Thursday, prices for seasonal vegetables in the city saw a minor increase after previously falling. Vegetables rose by Tk 5-10 per kg due to a reduction in summer crop supplies. Brinjal is now priced at Tk 70-90 per kg, eddo and colocasia stem at Tk 80-90, papaya at Tk 45-60, pointed gourd at Tk 60-70, and long-yard bean at Tk 90-110. Tomato and carrot prices remained steady at Tk 180-200 per kg, while green chilli stayed at Tk 220-260.

Gausul Azam, a trader from Karwanbazar, noted that a shortfall in vegetable supply led to a Tk 2-3 per kg price increase at the village level. He expects prices to stay high until early winter crops arrive in October. However, he mentioned that extortion in highways and markets has significantly reduced, which is expected to help stabilize the market.

In contrast, the prices for farm eggs have decreased to Tk 140-150 per dozen, and Pakistani chicken prices fell to Tk 280-290 per kg, down by Tk 10-20 per unit. Kabir Khan, a poultry owner from Basila, attributed this drop to lower day-old chick prices and suggested that further reductions could occur if feed prices were adjusted.

Riverine fish prices remained high, largely due to the soaring cost of hilsa. River shrimp 'harina' was priced between Tk 950-1,350 per kg, tiger and galda shrimp at Tk 750-1,050, shoal at Tk 700-1,000, and rui at Tk 650-1,250, depending on size. Hilsa, meanwhile, ranged from Tk 1,400-2,350 per kg based on quality and size. Nuruzzaman Mithu, a fish trader in Rayerbazar, mentioned that despite the end of the rainy season, hilsa prices remain elevated due to high demand during the September-November period.
