The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers along with gusty or squally wind over nine regions of the country.

“Thundershowers accompanied by temporary south or south-easterly gusty or squally wind with a speed of 45-60 kph are likely to occur over the regions of Jashore, Barishal, Patualkhali, Khulna, Faridpur, Chottogram, Cox’s Bazar, Cumilla and Noakhali,” the BMD said in an inland riverport warning valid till 6pm on Monday (September 23).

The river ports in these areas have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number 1, the notification says.

The monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, the BMD said in a regular forecast comencing 9am yesterday.

The day and night temperatures may fall by 1-3C over the country, the BMD said.

“Rainfall activity is likely to increase,” BMD says in an outlook for the next five days.
