Dollar Price Reaches Highest Ever in Kerb Market

The crisis in the country's currency market is not over. The price of the dollar rose again. On Wednesday (August 10), every dollar was sold at a record Tk 119 in the open market.

Yesterday Tuesday (August 9) the price per dollar was the highest Tk 115 in the kerb market. This was the previous record. According to the latest news, the exchange rate of the US currency has increased by Tk 2 to Tk 3 within a day.

The Russia-Ukraine war has pushed up global commodity prices. As a result, import and transportation costs have increased. This has created a dollar crisis in the country.

Money exchange houses in Dilkusha commercial area (bank zone), Baitul Mukarram, Paltan and Gulshan areas of the capital can be seen, buyers are coming to buy dollars from them since morning. But there are no sellers compared to that.

Traders say exchange rates of major international currencies are rising due to insufficient supply against demand.

There is an additional cost to buy dollars from the bank. 104 for every dollar to be paid. However, the US currency does not match except for medical or urgent needs. A maximum of $400 is given in case of treatment.
