Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged local economists to craft policies with a focus on the needs of the people and the realities of Bangladesh.

Emphasizing the importance of indigenous solutions, she stated, "My expectations from the economists are that you will think about the people of the country and plan your policies."

She highlighted the limitations of foreign advice and stressed the significance of locally informed strategies, saying, "It will be useful which you see with your own eyes, and work for people."

Sheikh Hasina also urged economists to contribute to diversifying the export basket and bolstering the rural economy.

She emphasized the need for research and cited the vision of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, stating, "I want your help for it."

Sheikh Hasina reaffirmed her commitment to achieving Bangladesh's development goals, envisioning a prosperous and Smart Bangladesh by 2041.

Despite global and domestic challenges, she expressed determination to navigate through them and emphasized self-reliance, stating, "We have to stand on our own feet. We have to walk with self-respect. Not to beg to anyone."
