BB Prints New Notes Worth Tk 22,500cr

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has printed fresh notes worth Tk 22,500 crore to give liquidity support to six banks.

“Strong banks are giving loans to help weak banks suffering from liquidity crises,” said the central bank’s governor, Dr Ahsan H Mansur, at the Bangladesh Bank head office in Motijheel on Thursday (November 28).

“Customers will witness many changes in the banking sector from Sunday (December 1),” he added.

Earlier on November 11, the governor held a meeting with 17 commercial banks. During the meeting, he said that the strong banks will have to provide more money to the banks that have become weak due to financial irregularities.
