Bangladesh Receives $116Mn Loan From World Bank

The World Bank's Board of Directors has approved a $116 million loan for Bangladesh for three projects aimed at improving healthcare, water and sanitation services, and promoting greening and climate resilience.

The World Bank issued a press release from Washington, USA, on Thursday, December 19 (local time), providing this information.

The Bank stated that these projects will enhance healthcare, water, and sanitation services in the country, while also supporting the achievement of environmentally friendly and climate-resilient development.

Abdullah Seck, Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan at the World Bank, stated that Bangladesh is one of the most affected countries by climate change and faces significant pollution issues in the future. Addressing climate resilience in all sectors and tackling pollution has become a key development priority.

Abdullah Seck also mentioned that this financing will help deliver healthcare, water, and sanitation services to the people of Bangladesh while laying the foundation for a cleaner, climate-resilient, and sustainable development.
