UGC for Cluster Admission Test Instead Of Unified System

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken the decision to hold a cluster admission test instead of unified admission test as a number of universities opposed to adopting the central admission system.

The decision was taken at a meeting on Wednesday at the UGC office in Dhaka between UGC Chairman Kazi Shahidullah and vice-chancellors of 34 public universities.

According to the decision, the new cluster system for all public universities will host six individual examinations for agriculture, science and technology, engineering, and general section.

Additionally, in the first week of March, the UGC will meet with public university administrators to discuss the matter further.

Earlier, the UGC suggested a single public university admission test, regardless of the specific faculty or subject that individual examiners choose.
