DU VC, Seven Provosts Resign

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Maksud Kamal, along with the provosts of seven halls, reportedly submitted their resignations on Saturday.

The provosts who resigned include those from Rokeya Hall, Shamsun Nahar Hall, Bijoy Ekattor Hall, Bangabandhu Hall, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall, and Salimullah Muslim Hall.

This follows a protest on Friday, where a group of Dhaka University students held a rally demanding the resignation of several top university officials. Their demands included the resignation of the vice-chancellor (administration and education), the proctor, assistant proctor, treasurer, all provosts, and all members of the senate and syndicate, alongside Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal.

Professor ASM Maksud Kamal had been appointed as the 29th Vice-Chancellor on November 4, 2023, succeeding former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman.
