The UK-based education magazine "Times Higher Education" has released its World University Rankings 2025, and no universities from Bangladesh have made it to the top 800.

While there are no Bangladeshi universities in the top 800, a total of 16 institutions are listed beyond that threshold.

The rankings are based on several indicators, including the quality of education, student-to-faculty ratio, research quality, citations, and the number of international students.

According to the list, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Daffodil International University, Jahangirnagar University, Jessore Science and Technology University, and North South University fall within the 801 to 1000 range. Additionally, the universities ranked between 1001 and 1200 include Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, BRAC University, Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, American International University-Bangladesh, Khulna University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, and University of Chattogram. However, Jagannath University is positioned beyond 1500.

This year's rankings place the University of Oxford at the top, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in second place and Harvard University in third. The following positions are held by Princeton University, Cambridge University, Stanford University, California Institute of Technology, Imperial College London, and Yale University.
