St. Gregory School ‍And College Temporary Close Over Students Clash

St. Gregory High School and College, an educational institution in the capital's Old Dhaka, has been declared closed indefinitely following the attack and vandalism. The lottery for admission to the first grade and nursery for 2025 has been postponed.

This information was announced in two separate notices from the college on Monday (November 25). This information has also been published on the institution's Facebook page.

Earlier, on Sunday afternoon, St. Gregory High School and College was attacked and vandalized in protest of an attack on an educational institution in Old Dhaka. The educational institution was declared closed after that.

Teachers of St. Gregory High School and College said that the college's classrooms and teachers' rooms were vandalized. The canteen was also attacked.

The notification of St. Gregory High School and College regarding the closure of educational institutions said, "As per the decision of the school's board of directors, all classes, examinations and office activities of the morning shift, day shift and college branch of the school will remain closed until further instructions are given after reviewing the emerging situation. The cleaning and repair work of the school is very urgent and time-consuming. The school's activities will resume as usual as soon as the situation improves."

The notification of St. Gregory High School and College regarding the postponement of the lottery for first grade and nursery said, "The lottery and admission date scheduled for admission to first grade (Bangla version) and nursery (English version) in St. Gregory High School and College for the year 2025 has been postponed until further notice due to unavoidable circumastances. The revised schedule will be announced later."

The clashes between students of three colleges continued yesterday, leaving over 100 injured in the capital’s Jatrabari.

Hundreds of students from Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul College, armed with sticks, iron rods, and sharp weapons, stormed Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) around noon, witnesses said.

Following this incident, the capital's Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College were declared closed.
