UGC Warns Students Against Admission To 8 Universities || Photo : Collected
More than 1 million students who have passed HSC are preparing for university admission. Many will enroll in public universities while many will enroll in private universities as well. Besides, children of many solvent families looking forward to admission to private universities from the beginning.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned students not to fall into the trap of fraud and take admission to any reputed or unauthorized universities this admission season.
In a circular on Thursday, UGC called upon students not to enroll in 8 private universities. Some of these universities that come under the UGC's 'restrictions' are running their educational programs illegally. It has been informed that the UGC will not take responsibility if anyone is cheated after getting admission in these universities and if any legal problem arises later.
According to the notification, there are currently 115 private universities approved under the Private Universities Act, of 2010. Out of this, education programs are being conducted in 106 universities.
The Commission has also published the list of private universities in which various types of problems exist including lawsuits. These are- IBAIS University, America Bangladesh University, The University of Comilla, Victoria University of Bangladesh, Central University of Science and Technology (Dhaka), Southern University Bangladesh, Darul Ihsan University, and Queen's University.
