Students Will Get Textbooks Within Feb: Shafiqul

All students of primary and secondary levels will get textbooks within February, says chief adviser's press secretary Shafiqul Alam.

"We hope that all students will get textbooks within February next," he told the media on Thursday (January 9).

Adviser Mahfuj Alam and Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder and Apurba Jahangir were present at the press briefing.

Shafiqul Alam said the previous government had held a textbook festival for one day, showing that all students were getting textbooks on January 1.

But data shows that full distribution of textbooks was completed in March, while in some years, even textbooks were distributed until July, he said.

The press secretary said the last date of textbook distribution in the 2022 academic year was March 24, while March 17 in the 2023 academic year and February 27 in the 2024 academic year.

He said the interim government is working with all stakeholders to reach the textbooks to the students as soon as possible.

"Even the government sat with the paper producers so that the printing of textbooks could be expedited," he added.
