Sourav Ganguly Biopic Confirmed, Who Will Play Dada?

After Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly is the next former Indian cricket captain whose life will be portrayed on the big screen. The former cricketer and current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India has said yes for the project. According to reports, it is going to be a big-budget film, amounting to Rs 200 crore to Rs 250 crore. Ranbir Kapoor is speculated to play the lead role in the biopic.

Sourav Ganguly confirmed the news to Media. Sourav said, "Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to reveal the name of the director now. It will take some more time for everything to be finalised."

According to news reports, the script for the film is being written. The production house has met with Sourav Ganguly more than once. Sources claim that the production house has also decided on the actor who will portray Sourav Ganguly on the screen. Reports claim that Ranbir Kapoor is the top contender for the role. Two more actors are also being considered, reports India Today.

Earlier, when Neha Dhupia suggested that Hrithik Roshan will be the best choice to play Sourav Ganguly on screen, the former cricketer had said, "But he’s got to get a body like me, first. Lot of people would say the way Hrithik’s body is, how good-looking he is, and how muscular he is, people would say ‘Aree, you’ll have to get a body like Hrithik’. But, Hrithik will have to get a body like me before he starts."

While the script of the film is still being written, reports claim that the film will capture the entire journey of Sourav Ganguly. From his days as a young cricketer and becoming the captain of the Indian National team to his historic win at the Lords and finally becoming the president of the BCCI, the film will cover all facets of Sourav Ganguly's life.

It is not the first time that the news of Sourav Ganguly's biopic is making headlines. Earlier, there have been many reports regarding the biopic. However, Sourav had never admitted to any of the reports before. But this time, the BCCI president himself has informed that the biopic is in works. The shooting for the film will start after the pre-production work is completed. For now, the matter is being kept confidential.

According to reports, Sourav Ganguly was approached by many production houses for his biopic. From Ekta Kapoor to Fox Star Studios, many production houses expressed their wish to make a film on his life. He also got an offer to act in a film. However, Sourav rejected the offer.
