Mithila Gets Bail in Evaly Scam Case

A court here today granted bail to actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila in a case lodged over fraud and embezzlement associated with her involvement in e-commerce company Evaly.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim passed the order, allowing her bail till the submission of the police report in the case.

The court passed the order as the actress surrendered before it through her lawyer and pleaded for permanent bail.

Mithila, a former goodwill ambassador of Evaly lifestyle, and another actress and Evaly’s former chief public relation officer Shabnam Faria were granted eight weeks of anticipatory bail by the High Court on December 13, 2021. 

A customer of Evaly named Sad Sam Rahman pleaded to record his allegations against nine including Evaly managing director Mohammad Rassel, its chairman and Rassel’s wife Shamima Nasrin, Evaly’s goodwill ambassador and singer, composer and actor Tahsan, Mithila and Faria, as a case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari on November 21. After recording his testimony, the court had asked Dhanmandi Police Station to record this as a first information report (FIR).

Dhanmandi Police Station on December 4, 2021, filed the allegation as FIR and sent it to the court. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate accepted the case and asked police to submit their report on January 10.
