‘I’m a Self-Made Woman’: Sushmita In Response To ‘Gold Digger’ Comments

Sushmita Sen has responded to social media users who have labeled her as a 'gold digger', after it was revealed that she is currently dating former IPL chairman and business tycoon Lalit Modi.

Just recently, Lalit Modi publicly announced his relationship with Sushmita on Twitter. Since then, the actress has received crude remarks, memes, jokes, and questions about her character from social media users. Many people have also claimed that Sushmita is a 'gold digger' and that she is dating Lalit 'for his money'.

In response to these comments, Sushmita tweeted an article titled "The problematic culture of calling women gold diggers" with the hashtag "self-made lady". The post also included the following:

"The so-called intellectuals with their idiosyncrasies... the ignorant with their cheap and at times funny gossip... The friends I never had and the acquaintances I've never met all sharing their grand opinions and deep knowledge of my life and character, monetising the 'Gold Digger' all the way!!! Ah, these geniuses!!!," Sushmita wrote.

"I dig deeper than Gold and I've always (famously) preferred Diamonds!! And yes, I still buy them myself!!!," the actress added.
