Mahi Gets the Green Signal

Actress Mahiya Mahi has received the green signal to buy nomination as MP candidate of Awami League in Chapainawabganj-2 constituency by-election.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader confirmed the purchase of Mahi's nomination in a press conference at the secretariat today (December 29).

Referring to actress Mahiya Mahi as a member of the Awami League family, Obaidul Quader said, “Actress Mahiya Mahi wants to be a candidate in the by-elections. I discussed the matter with the Prime Minister. We have found that Mahi's family is connected with Awami League politics. Mahi herself is also an activist of the party. As a result, she has been allowed to purchase nomination papers.”

In response to a question, Obaidul Quader said, "Our party's nomination board will finalize the candidate."

Earlier on Tuesday, Mahiya Mahi said that she is going to buy the nomination form to become a member of parliament of the ruling party Awami League. She will buy the nomination form for the Chapainawabganj-2 seat from the Awami League office in Dhanmondi on the afternoon of December 29.

A few days ago, Mahiya Mahi got a position on the Central Committee of the Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance. She has been given the responsibility of the joint general secretary of the central committee for the next two years. Besides, she is also serving as the Rajshahi divisional convener of the same organization.
